The in-car spotting game. Somebody calls it, the app awards the point, and nobody has to keep score in their head.

Still stuck?

Email spotorama.app@gmail.com.

It helps to say what iPhone you have, what iOS version, and what you were doing when it went wrong. If it is a voice problem, whether you were on CarPlay, Bluetooth or neither is the single most useful thing you can tell me.

Getting started
01

Add everyone first.

Players tab → +. Each person gets a colour and a shape; the shape is how you find yourself on the scoreboard, and it stays yours in every theme.

02

Start a trip.

Play → Start a Trip → pick a list, tick who is playing, and go.

03

Score a spot.

Tap what you spotted, then tap who spotted it. With one player it is a single tap.

Common questions

Voice is not picking up my calls

Check that listening is on — the waveform button at the top left of the game screen. The first time you use voice, iOS needs to download a speech model, which needs a connection; after that it works offline. Tapping always works, with or without voice.

Turning on listening stopped my music

Spotorama will not start listening while something else is playing — it refuses instead, so your music is left alone. If the music was already stopped when you pressed Listen, it will not restart on its own; start it again from wherever it was playing.

The app stopped listening in the middle of a trip

That is deliberate. If music or a podcast starts while Spotorama is listening, it hands the audio back rather than fighting for it, and tells you it has stopped. Tap the waveform button again once the other audio has finished.

Sound goes mono in the car when listening is on

On CarPlay this is unavoidable. A car switches to its hands-free channel the moment anything asks it for a microphone, and that channel is mono voice-band by design. Turn listening off and the car goes back to stereo.

Somebody got a point they should not have

Press and hold the spot card and choose Take one back, then pick who it should come off. To see everything that has been scored this trip, tap the list button at the top right of the game screen — that is Fix a point.

Can I change what things are worth, or make my own list?

Yes — all of it. The Lists tab lets you edit any built-in list, change what each spot is worth, add your own, or start a list from nothing. You can also choose how a trip ends: when you stop, at a target score, when the list is finished, or after a set time.

Can we play across two phones?

Not at the moment. Spotorama is a one-phone game for up to seven players.

Where is my data kept?

On your device, and nowhere else. There is no account and no server. See the privacy policy.

I deleted the app and lost my trips

Everything lives on the device, so deleting the app removes it. If you had device backups turned on, restoring from a backup restores it with everything else.
